Impressive results from the use of ViSi Mobile System at Johns Hopkins have been published in AAMI’s January/February 2017 BI&T. The article, titled Continuous Monitoring of Patient Vital Signs to Reduce ‘Failure-to-Rescue’ Events, presents surveillance monitoring as an opportunity for hospitals to improve patient care, demonstrate compliance with the National Patient Safety Goal for alarm management and increase patient satisfaction.
The publication identifies numerous nursing interventions that likely saved patients from further deterioration and possible loss of life. For example, surveillance monitoring helped nurses identify cases of early-stage sepsis, pulmonary emboli and postoperative myocardial infarctions.
